Comparing Steelers Quarterbacks in Matt Canada's Offense

I'm not giving Kenny Pickett a hall pass. A simple live-viewing of the past two games show the 25 year old gun-slinger missing open receivers, making bad reads and generally not living up to the hype at the end of last season/this pre-season.

But guess who else kind of sucked lately? Every Steelers quarterback.

I get that Big Ben was in his 98th season in 2021, but some of the numbers compared to just one year prior are stark. In 2020 under Randy Fichtner, Roethlisberger went 12-3 with 33 TDs and 12 INTs. His sack rating was a career low 2.1% compared to 2021 when it was 5.9%.

I want Kenny Pickett to succeed. Who doesn't want to continue enjoying his incredible acting skills in those Levin Furniture commercials?

Unlike the comfort of those plush Levin mattresses, I feel like we can't get a read on how good Kenny Pickett is with this offensive scheme. It's fucking brutal to watch, and not really fair to the young man who has shown streaks of brilliance.

What do you think? Who is more to blame for this awful offensive effort from the Pittsburgh Steelers?

Who is to blame?

  • Kenny Pickett

  • Matt Canada

  • Levin Furniture
