Former Penguins Brawler Matthew Barnaby Arrested For Choking a Bouncer at Nashville Honkey-Tonk
Updated: May 29, 2020

The Penguins have had their fair-share of enforcers over the years. Georges Laraque, "Scary" Gary Roberts, Deryk Engelland, Arron Asham; the list goes on. But the first guy I remember being an absolute shit-stirrer was Matthew Barnaby.
It seems ol' Matthew was up to his old tricks again Wednesday night when we was arrested for (allegedly) choking a bouncer at a Honky Tonk dahn in Nashville. Here's his mugshot:

According to Scoop Nashville, police were dispatched to 419 Broadway in the early hours of Thursday morning in response to some jackass fighting half the bar. Once on scene, security from the venue advised that an altercation broke out between Matthew Barnaby, his girlfriend, and other patrons of the bar.
"46-year-old former hockey star Matthew Barnaby was booked into the Metro Nashville jail at 1 a.m. Thursday, charged with choking a bouncer at Nashville Crossroads bar on Broadway in downtown Nashville."
Just like old times. Cowboys, bouncers, women, it doesn't matter who's in the way, Matthew Barnaby is ready to toss off the gloves and brawl. The bouncer in question, Tyler P. Hardy, reported that Barnaby ended up choking him during the altercation -- a Barnaby move we saw for years in the igloo.

Barnaby was taken into custody and charged with assault and public intoxication. He is free on pre-trial release and scheduled to appear in court later this month.
To celebrate Barnaby seemingly getting back into his prime, here's a youtube video of his best antics during his career on the ice.
